Born and raised in Connecticut, and after 17 years of growing up in New England, well you know the story, people with their noses in the air and their feet stuck in the mud. I just about had enough. Hitting the road four days after graduating high school, I was on a head on collision with Portland, Oregon.
Portland is like a breath of fresh air; its a place where inspiration lies around every corner. Its a tight knit community of young and seasoned artists, who are constantly inspiring one another. As a photographer with an emphasis in photojournalism and a documentary based style, I find Portland to be a perfect stomping ground for my style of work. I am currently majoring in Photography at the Pacific Northwest College of Art and although school is occupying a good portion of my time these days, when I do get out to shoot, I enjoy capturing Portland's vibrant and diverse skateboard culture. I aspire to some day work in skateboarding's most respected editorials, as I have been fascinated with the art of print and the "cult" impact a magazine can sometimes possess.
Thank you for viewing my work.
Sincerely.
Elias Parise.
